Could you be seeing adverts on the lock screen soon?

Vancouver based app firm Adenda have hit gold they think with a new tool for apps that allows access to the lock screen on any Android phone. As we all know the lock screen is there to stop us making silly mistake calls while in our pocket or bag and also to protect from theft as a passcode is needed.

However Adenda along with Marketing company Urban Airship have come up with the ability to send animations, information and even adverts to the lock screen device. Now the company say that the new tool can be used to better engage the player with their apps but it also could mean taking ads out of the app itself and insert them onto your lock screen in order to make the game app a more better experience without ads.

Adenda has one live app at present in the market with the lock screen tool and so far about 10% of users have allowed the access to the lock screen.

Of course there are huge possibilities for the tool for advertisers and game developers to draw customers to the game or promotions; however as the lock screen is part of the Android software it does need to have the permission of each user to unlock access.

One thing is for sure this new tool from Adenda will be popular with advertisers and app companies but the success will come from users allowing access to the lock screen.
