Macau July GGR Highest Since 2019 With $2.7 Billion

Macau has reported a rise in its gross gaming revenue (GGR) for July, achieving a total of MOP 22.1 billion (approximately $2.7 billion). This figure marks the highest monthly revenue recorded in 2025 but also the highest GGR since the post-pandemic recovery of the region’s gaming industry.
Year-on-Year Growth
The GGR for July reflects a robust 19% increase compared to the same month last year. This growth is indicative of a broader trend of recovery as the region continues to rebound from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to the year-on-year growth, July’s GGR also represents a 5.2% increase from June 2025. This upward trajectory suggests that the gaming sector is not only recovering but also gaining momentum as more tourists return to Macau.
Cumulative Performance
For the first seven months of 2025, Macau’s casino GGR has reached MOP 140.8 billion (around $17.4 billion), which translates to a 6.5% increase year-on-year. However, it is essential to note that this figure still lags 12.2% behind the pre-pandemic levels recorded in 2019, when the GGR for the same period was MOP 173.95 billion (approximately $21.5 billion).
Looking ahead, analysts remain cautiously optimistic about the future of Macau’s gaming industry. If the current trends continue, it is anticipated that GGR could reach pre-pandemic levels by late 2025 or early 2026, provided that tourism remains strong and the global economy stabilizes.
