Greece Approves €300 Million VORIA Project

Greece’s Council of State has approved the VORIA project marking a significant milestone in the country’s entertainment and hospitality landscape. The ambitious initiative, spearheaded by North Star Entertainment, is set to transform the Delavari area of Maroussi, located in northern Athens, into a vibrant hub for tourism and business, says the company. With an investment of approximately €300 million (around $332 million), the project promises to deliver a range of facilities, including a five-star hotel, a conference center, a casino, and various dining and entertainment options.

The path to the VORIA project was not without obstacles. A legal challenge was raised against the project’s zoning framework, which could have delayed its progress. However, the Council of State, Greece’s highest administrative court, delivered a decisive ruling that upheld Presidential Decree 36/2023. This decree outlines the urban and spatial planning regulations necessary for the project’s development.

The court’s ruling is final and irrevocable, effectively clearing the way for North Star Entertainment to proceed with its plans.
