Las Vegas Sands Reports Lower Q3 Profit

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) posted a 28% year-over-year decline in third-quarter net income, yet signaled confidence in its long-term outlook by announcing a 20% increase in its recurring dividend for the 2027 calendar year.
For the quarter ended September 30, the company reported net income of $352 million, down from $491 million in the same period last year. Diluted earnings per share fell 21.3% to $0.48, from $0.61 a year earlier. Net revenue declined 3.5% to $3.22 billion, while consolidated adjusted property EBITDA decreased 16.7% to approximately $1.12 billion.
Management attributed the softer results to weakness in the high-end, or premium, gaming segment, alongside lower rolling win. Rolling win decreased 13% to $382 million, and the adjusted property EBITDA margin contracted by 610 basis points to 45.6%. The company noted that despite the decline, Macao generated modest revenue growth on higher gaming volumes.
Regional Results
Marina Bay Sands in Singapore remained the stronger contributor, generating $590 million in adjusted property EBITDA for the quarter. Sands China, the company’s Macao subsidiary, delivered $529 million, a decrease of 12% from $601 million in the prior-year period.
A notable bright spot was market positioning in Macao: the company’s mass gaming revenue share rose to 26.1%, its highest level since the fourth quarter of 2023. Management has consistently emphasized market share gains as a strategic priority in the competitive Macao market.
The board approved a 20% increase in the recurring common stock dividend for the 2027 calendar year, raising the annual payout to $1.44 per share, or $0.36 per quarter, effective in the first quarter of 2027. The company paid a quarterly dividend of $0.30 per share during the current quarter.
Share repurchases remained a central component of the company’s capital allocation strategy. Las Vegas Sands repurchased $950 million of stock during the quarter, and executive leadership indicated on the earnings call that buybacks would continue to represent the larger share of capital returns relative to dividends.
The company held $2.86 billion in unrestricted cash as of September 30. Capital expenditures for the quarter totaled $281 million, including $154 million for construction, development, and maintenance activities in Macao and $121 million at Marina Bay Sands, where the expansion project remains on track for an opening in early 2031.
Market Reaction
Shares declined approximately 4% following the release, as the results came in below analyst expectations. The shortfall reflects ongoing softness in premium mass and VIP gaming activity across the company’s Asian markets, a trend industry observers have been monitoring throughout the year.
